Knowing my predisposition to pee on sticks, it should be no surprise that, despite my obsessive negativity about our chances at natural conception, I have still been, well, peeing on things. (Or rather, into things, followed by a nice tidy dip. Much less messy that way.)
Anyway, I digress. Here's my dilemma: I recently purchased the horribly expensive digital OPK's, thinking that they would be much easier to interpret. And they are. The empty, blank circle every day has left no doubt that today is not "the" day. But I've been hopeful that tomorrow would bring good news and the baby-making could commence!
And now, I am out of sticks. But, there's a twist. I THOUGHT today was CD18, which is very late for me to O. (I'm usually 28-30 days). I've been using the 23rd as my CD1.
Only it wasn't.
That, my friends, was June's D&C.
CD1 was actually July 21st, which makes today CD20. It ALSO means I didn't start OPK-ing on CD 12, like I thought, but on CD14. Which, quite possibly, could mean that I completely missed my LH surge.
So, now I've got to decide whether to spend the $$ on another set of OPK's (at $25 a pop) and hope against hope that I'm O-ing late and will still catch it. OR I can assume I've O-d already (at least a week ago) and wait to start again with the next cycle, and try to make sure I've got my dates right.
I'm leaning toward the second option, as I've also had O-pains earlier this week (that's something new that I've only had post-miscarriage. I had them last month, too.) That, along with my CM, and my tendency to O earlier (rather than later) leads me to believe that O has already come and gone.
So what would you do, friends? Chase the elusive or, given that it really DOESN'T matter when/if I O, give up the ghost?

I L-O-V-E that photo!!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the second option....
Mwah
xx
That pic is from a phone?!?! How very cool!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the OPK - I could never in all my history make a OPK turn positive. All I managed to do was make a huge pee mess. I really don't know what to tell you!
I would go with the second option as well. Check out ebay for your next round of OPKs though - they are MUCH cheaper! That picture is amazing! I got married on the beach so I always have a soft spot for beach pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteAs for the OPKs, I'd just skip this cycle and start fresh at your next CD1. My first few cycles after my miscarriage were a little wonky in terms of timing too.
I vote for the 2nd option, given all the dates. And definitely order OPK's for next cycle online - much cheaper! Sorry about this...
ReplyDeleteLove the picture - beautiful beach!
Yeah, save your money and get some OPKs for next month.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture :)
Gorgeous picture!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I think I'd vote for option 2, too. It sounds like other signs point to it already happening.
What a fantastic photo!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought...have you ever temped? Even though I don't anymore, sometimes if I suspect I missed my surge I temp when I first get up, since those temperatures are so much higher after I O. That's saved me some money.
Love the photo. I wouldn't buy more OPKs just at the moment...did you "use" and days in the vicinity of CD14? Also, if you are taking temps, and they're now high, then you should be post-O, right?
ReplyDelete*and = any
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool picture! I thought it was a professional pic at first glance, until I read the whole post. I love how the footprints look.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the temping. I bought OPKs for a few cycles, so expensive, until Dr. suggested that I temp. You could actually do both, but definately go for the online prices.
um, I hate giving up...but buying more...UGH. I don't know..what They(Up above) said. GOOD LUCK
ReplyDeletethat picture is simply perfect.
Well, if it were me, I'd be buying more opks (but the cheapo ones) because I'm an obsessive pee on a stick-er. My good advice would be not to spend the money, but, I probably wouldn't follow my own good advice.
ReplyDeleteAfter my miscarriages my cycles were wonky, so there is the chance that you haven't o'd yet and a chance that you might not even o at all this cycle.
Love the picture, so cool that it looks all bendy. And thanks for the very kind words on my blog today, I very much appreciate it.
I would save the money for next cycles HPT. Your right the pee sticks make a mess but I can't aim into a cup very well either.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic! It's super cool!
ReplyDeleteAs for the OPK, I guess I'd say skip it and try next cycle. It seems silly to drop another $25 on something that you think already happened, anyway. That's my opinion.
Your body, your choice :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the photo :)
I hope you dont mind me commenting.. i stumbled across your blog awhile ago.. Keep on pushing thru with the OPK's.. but not this cycle, start fresh on the next one, sounds like you would of already missed your surge, I got mine on ebay.. i think i paid around $14 and got about 50/60 of them!! and yes they do work! After being told along with my stage 4 endo i was in menopause ( Im 26!!) and that IVF wouldt work for us anymore due to my poor responce - no follies on 600 gonal, that is how i am pregnant now, mixed in with some Vitex tablets and OPK's our lil man is due in 4 weeks. Good Luck Jo xx
ReplyDeleteLove the photo it looks so relaxing:) I like the digital OPK's....when I used the others I never really got a clear positive but of course with the digital OPK when you get the happy face it cant be mistaken....I bought the clear blue brand and it came in a pack of 21 for like $40....so maybe go with that one for next time....Im always a what if kind of person so if it was me I still would probably by the sticks but thats my crazy OCD personality....:)))
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome picture! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAs for the OPK debacle, I think I'd probably opt for the second option as well. I think you'll feel more confident if you start fresh on the next cycle.
Btw, I just discovered the 30 day blog challenge and I think I'm going to join you (even if I am coming to it late!). Can't wait to see the rest of your posts (and the others!).
I can't believe that photo is from a phone. I thought it was one of those fancy expensive art shots!
ReplyDeleteAs for the OPKs, I'd wait for next cycle too. I mean they're just OPKs, but for whatever reason I hate seeing them negative day after day. You'll avoid that if you wait for next month!
Lovely photo...tough decision. I'd go with the OPK's. In the end, it's worth the peace of mind that you'll get when, at the end of the month, you know you've tried EVERYTHING. (I hate the feeling that I might have done something more to increase my chances.)
